The Millennium Excellence Foundation (MEF) on February 13, 2020 launched the 20th Anniversary and Millennium Excellence Awards (MEA) in Accra.
The launch took place at the Labadi Beach Hotel with the Chairperson of the foundation, Grace Amey-Obeng addressing guests on the details of this year’s event which will happen on July 11th 2020 at the Fantasy Dome in Accra.
As explained by a governor of the MEF board, more than 1,600 individuals and organisations have been nominated in the 37 categories under the award.
The nominees were carefully selected by a MEF research team based on their selflessness, dedication, effort, knowledge and contribution to Ghana’s socio-economic and political development.
The names of the nominees will be published in the Daily Graphic for the public to nominate one person or institution in each of the categories.
He further explained that the public will have the opportunity to nominate individuals and entities who they feel are deserving of a Millennium Excellence Award, but have not been captured in the list with justifiable reasons for consideration.
In attendance at the launch was a representative of the life patron, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Professor S.K.B Asante (Paramount Chief of Asante Asokore), Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, Ambassador of USA to Ghana, Stephanie S. Sullivan, Hon. Alban Sumani Bagbin, CEO of MTN Ghana, Mr. Serlom Adadevoh and other past laureates of the awards.
